| HOME Artist Statement History JEWELRY BEADS OTHER CONTACT ME PURCHASING |
I'm never entirely sure what other people want to know about me and the things I do. There's a quick overview of the crooked path that led me to making jewelry on my statement page. I'm continually told that it's strange for an engineer to be creative as well. It seems like engineering addresses only part of what's in me and the other part is happy when I create something hand made, I definitely bring some of my engineering techniques to the table when I'm learning new skills but I don't stay "within the lines" when I'm working up a design. I've taken classes at a local bead shop. I'm forever grateful to Dave Miller for teaching me cabochon wrapping. I've worked with purchased tutorials from Metallique - Robbie Ward and Eni Oken. I've also learned a lot of techniques and tricks from wonderful people I've met via the internet. I'd like to think that I've learned and incorporated techniques with my own unique spin. At this point I'm developing my own style and I'm curious where I'll go next. I seem to be leaning towards one style on Monday and by Wednesday I've melded it with a completely different style. I'm encouraged by the reactions to my new pieces and I'm looking forward to the next leg of my journey. As for the history of my company, I haven't been selling for very long, just a couple years now. I started out making gifts and designing for myself (no one else makes the jewelry I was seeing in my head). Oddly enough, I don't wear very much jewelry. I've sold a few pieces on consignment but the venue was not a good fit for my style. A boutique spot seemed perfect for quite some time but again my style just didn't quite fit. I can take a hint so the next step was selling my pieces in their own setting. That setting is this website.
