Katie grew up in a large family and learned needlework, sewing and ceramics from her mother, aunt and grandmother.

She left the rock and roll lifestyle, married, had 2 kids and returned to college.

After earning degrees in Electrical Engineering she turned to beading and jewelry design to escape the testosterone overload in the industry.

Katie started with beads and bead embroidery but incorporated wirework into her creations soon thereafter.

Soon she found that she wanted to make her own beads. So, with a torch and some glass that's what she did.

Katie has found that inspiration comes from everywhere. It's been found in old needlework patterns, pictures of nature that she likes to take, and the cultures of her ancestry (Polish, German, English, Irish, Dutch, Indian and there's surely more in there somewhere).
